Olive is a trained facilitator of the PROTECT Curriculum through 3 Strands Global. This curriculum is an evidence-based curriculum that enable students, staff, and parents to be aware of the dangers of human trafficking. Each lesson is tailored to the audience and ranges from kindergarten all the way through high school for students. So, how do you talk to a 5-year-old about human trafficking? The answer is you don’t. However, you can teach them about personal safety. The element of human trafficking is not taught until high school. We do teach youngsters that they are a masterpiece deserving of protection.
Staff curriculum is very different. These sessions explain the complexities of human trafficking and what the signs are in their students as well as offer protocols for staff of school districts to respond appropriately.
Parents also need to know the dangers that their children face with regard to human trafficking. Human trafficking often occurs online and in the age of technology, this can be a cumbersome topic when it comes to cell phone safety. Parent sessions are a key piece of education in protecting children.
