Education
Our philosophy for ending human sex trafficking is education. Chief Dan Foss and Director April Molina have spoken at several events on the dangers of human trafficking, the tactics of a trafficking and the demand vs the supply for sex trafficking specifically. We offer several trainings as well.
Tactics of a Trafficker
This 1-hour training focuses on how a trafficker coerces a person into the life of prostitution. There are many signs to look for with regard to the manipulation a trafficker uses. You will learn what a trafficker can look like and how they manipulate people.
Technology, Teens & Trafficking
This 2-hour training gives the big picture of sex trafficking. We go over the laws, statistics, mindset of the trafficker, the treatment of the victim, the demand from the buyer, as well as parental resources available that will help protect your children.
Internet Safety
This 30-minute training is geared toward those who use technology on a daily basis. We understand that technology is here to stay, so we train people how to use it safely.
PROTECT Curriculum
Olive has become a facilitator of this exciting program through 3 Strands Global. This evidence-based curriculum will provide people of all ages with a basic understanding of how human trafficking can infect our community. Beginning at age 5, we will teach young children how to listen to their “inner voice.” From there, they learn “safe people, places and choices.” As the curriculum progresses into high school age, we begin talking about human trafficking and how they can look out for the signs of a trafficker. This curriculum also has lessons to teach agency/school staff and parents what signs to look for with regard to the children in their care.
