Board of Supervisors Proclamation:

The first Tuesday of January every year, the Department of Social Services collaborates with the Madera County Board of Supervisors to bring a proclamation declaring January Human Trafficking Prevention & Awareness Month in Madera County. Please join us in the Board of Supervisor Chambers at 10:00am for this special event.

Wear Blue Day:

Each year on January 11th, the Department of Homeland Security hosts "Wear Blue Day." This campaign invites the public to take photos of themselves, friends, family and colleagues wearing blue clothing and share them on social media with the hashtag #WearBlueDay. Anyone can participate, all you need is a piece of blue clothing! You can follow @DHSBlueCampaign on Facebook, X, and Instagram for more information.

Human Trafficking "HT" Town Hall:

Each year, Olive hosts an educational event for community members to come and learn more about human trafficking on a local level. This year, we are hosting an HT Town Hall with a panel of law enforcement officers to present on the subject, and there will be an opportunity for community members to ask questions. The location for this event will be at Madera County Sheriff's Office and begin at 5:30pm. Dinner will be provided. Seating will be limited and depending on how many the response, we may have a zoom link available.

Pledge 2 Stop Trafficking:

In 2015, Breaking the Chains in Fresno had the idea for a community-wide day of fundraising that would evolve into Pledge 2 Stop Trafficking. Through a large collaboration of local agencies, The Pledge 2 Stop Trafficking Fund represents multiple anti-trafficking organizations in Fresno and Madera Counties. This fund gives donors the opportunity to give at one central location and know their monetary contribution is being adequately disbursed and effectively used to end trafficking here in the Central Valley. The Red Sand Project:

Red Sand Project is a participatory artwork created by Molly Gochman that uses sidewalk interventions and earthwork installations to create opportunities for people to question, connect and take action against human trafficking and exploitation. Take part in raising awareness by joining the movement. Fill sidewalk cracks with red sand and document your sidewalk transformation on social media by posting pictures with the hastag #RedSandProject. This world-side awareness campaign has been a staple of Olive since 2018. We provide the sand, all you have to do is show up at Courthouse Park at 1pm on January 30th.
